We, the undersigned, would like to make a call to the Health Protection Agency to make Lyme Disease a notifiable illness.  Our reason for this recommendation is that there is little support and knowledge available to Lyme disease patients.  Some people have been infected overseas and some have been infected here in Ireland and the overwhelming response from talking to these patients is that there is little recognition among the medical community on the best way to diagnose and treat the disease.  This leaves many patients having to seek advice by private means, often abroad which places an added burden on people who already ill.

Due to the large farming community found in Ireland and also the attraction of Ireland's beautiful land and seascapes to overseas visitors, we need to do more to raise awareness and protection.  By making Lyme disease notifiable we could be placing greater importance on quicker and more reliable diagnosis amongst the medical population and help prevent any ever deepening health and financial (due to ill health) crisis.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

What is Lyme Disease?  Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness transmitted through the bite of a tick.  Symptoms in the early stages of the disease can include a bulls eye rash, flu-symptoms and a fever.  If you notice these symptoms go to your GP without delay and explain that you were bitten by a tick.  Some patients may remain asymptomatic and carry the disease for a number of years symptom free.  However late stage Lyme disease can crop up years later with debilitating symptoms, including profound fatigue, tremours, weakness, dizziness, nausea, joint & muscle pain, sore throats, tingling, brain fog and headaches.  The symptoms greatly mimic those of ME, MS & Parkinson's Disease.

The best form of treatment is through antibiotics.  The longer you have been infected the harder it is to eradicate.  This is why we are call for quicker recognition and treatment of the disease.

Please sign the petition below to help us make Lyme Disease notifiable in Ireland - thank you!

When the legislative session stated, two of the bills I was most looking forward to seeing passed were HB1377 and HB1347.  As the legislative session draws to a close, what I hear from Bismarck is that these bills may be sent for "study." $0$0 $0 $0I find that unacceptable.$0 $0$0 $0 $0These bills, which would create an accessible database of state spending and would prevent state employees from using taxpayer resources to advocate initiated measures, are simple matters that are...  More >> Read more »

If you are an animal lover, please read below and sign this petition.
Pennsylvania has the lightest Dog laws out of alot of states. It basicly
allows animal hoarders and abusers to get away with neglect and horrific cases of animal abuse. Governor Rendell is the only one who can enforce
this to be revised. The PA Dog Laws need to be changed for the welfare and wellbeing of our furry friends. After all, they can not speak for them selves.
They rely on people to help and take care of them. The Laws need to be more strict on animal cruelty cases and animal hoarders. They need to have heavier restrictions on the way they handle there shelters, rescue's and overall pets. We need as many signatures as possible to forward this on to Governor Rendell. Please forward to everyone who agree's that the animal abuse and neglect laws need revised and the offender pays a heavy penalty. This can't be done with out the help of everyone. The Governor needs to know that when he needs our vote he gets it, now we need his vote. A vote to change the PA Dog laws and make the conditions and regulations more strict for the ones who want to run shelters and rescue's. Help stop the animal neglect and abuse that these so called rescue's and shelters get away with. Read more »

My goal is to start beauty school in the next month. I just do not have money to pay for the application fees and neither does mom due to the fact that all her money is going towards taxes and my medical bills. I have found the school I plan on attending and have already applied for financial aid. The problem is nothing can happen until I can pay the application fee. The program lasts nine months and at the end I will know how to do hair, nails, and facials and be able to get my cosmetology license. I am excited and ready to start. I just need help getting there. Thank you

here is a link to the school i plan on attending just so you can check it out : www.regencybeauty.com

I know everyone is tight on money but any donation will help. Thanks again.
