I've known Julie since I was 13 years old. She lived down the street from me growing up and through the years she and her family has welcomed me with open arms, invited me to Thanksgiving and consistently let me raid their food supplies when mine ran low.

Today Julie's mom died. Her dad died a little more than a year ago today as well. And I much as I'd love to be there for her, I now live abroad and can't fly back right now. But I wanted to find a way to help my friend who has had a hard life and an even harder time this past year. Initially I thought to fly her to here to France to come visit me and get her mind off of things. Then it hit me, and begin to think bigger...

Why not give Julie what she's always wanted for herself but never had the capacity to do. See the world!.

I want to raise a travel fund for her because I want to thank her for being such a wonderful friend, to recognize her for overcoming a drug addition and getting her life back on track, and also to help her overcome a year where she lost both of her parents, by getting her mind off things and lifting her spirits!

I believe that if everyone does just a little, that huge and amazing things can be achieved! With your help I could give Jules the summer of her life and let her know that even when we're down, there will always be people out there for us! I urge you to help give my friend this opportunity of a lifetime during a real low time in her life. :)

Please donate what you can (even if it is only $1) , but most importantly PLEASE SEND THIS LINK TO YOUR FRIENDS.

Thank you so much in advance for changing the path of a very deserving person's life.

My 1 year old Silky Terrier was rescued after breaking both front legs and needing surgery to repair his front legs. The surgery required plates and screw in both legs. His surgery was done in August of 08 and recently he has been experiencing discomfort. One leg has an infection from one of the screws puncturing his skin. Pino needs the plates and screws to be removed from both legs. Only one leg can be done at a time and the cost is $700 per operation. His first surgery is scheduled for April 24, I am having trouble trying to fund these surgeries because I am a full time student and work only part time. Pino is a great companion and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Gina & Pino

On March 31 I was preparing to make vegetable soup when five men in blue uniforms, police and 3 EMT's came into my apartment and informed me they were taking me to the hospital against my will.

The doctor responsible for destroying my health had masterminded a plot so reprehensible it defies my ability to describe.
I was being forcefully removed from the safety of my home be committed to a psychiatric unit based on email I did NOT write, which described a bizarre plan to commit "public suicide" for the sole purpose of "destroying" this doctor.

I was subjected to what was, for me, an unspeakable trauma, forced to leave my elderly cocker spaniel alone, and only given a chance to dress by one of the kind EMT's whose compassion overruled the less than sensitive policeman who apparently was incapable of imagining his wife, sister or daughter being victimized in a similar manner. I rarely leave home, and then only for absolute necessities. Those who have followed my plight for years know of my increasing physical disability, as do people in my community who have witnessed the deterioration of my health since my surgery in Indianapolis eight years ago.

Based on an email I did NOT send, which was apparently fabricated for the specific purpose of having me locked up in a psych unit, I was detained for over 24 hours in a hospital ER, observed, then finally interviewed by a social worker for the Mass. Dept. of Mental Health who found I was NOT suicidal, in spite of the bogus email, whereupon he recommended to the psychiatrist who authorizes involuntary commitment, that I should allowed to go home. The MD, however, did not follow the advice of the social worker who actually talked with me. Instead, this MD, who pushes a pen for the State and probably never actually sees or evaluates patients in person, decided I was to be involuntarily committed.. all based on a LIE.. a phony email used by the very doctor whose surgery left me suffering from the moment I woke from anesthesia.

I was to wait in the ER until an available bed could be found, which would have been somewhere off Cape Cod. Meanwhile, my lawyer worked non stop and finally, an MD at the hospital interviewed me for over an hour and concluded that I was NOT suicidal. She overruled the decision of the doctor from Mass. DPH and I was finally allowed to return home. I was discharged without any "treatment plan" or recommendations because I am NOT suicidal, nor do I suffer from any "mental illness" as is alleged in the lawsuit. After reading these documents, you can decide for yourself just how far from reality this doctor and his lawyer are willing to go to silence the truth.

This plastic surgeon is intent on silencing me forever and preventing me from sharing my personal experience in a public venue. There are many more ugly details to this story, but the bottom line is this: I must find an attorney in Indiana to represent me before April 7.. only a few days away. This lawsuit is filled with the most heinous outright lies.. I do not have any money for an attorney and my voice will be silenced forever if I cannot get legal representation immediately.

Many foster children are supplied with garbage bags for transporting their personal belongings to and from foster homes. Social workers do this just to make the job quicker and easier... but what kind of a message does this send to a child? Does it not say, "your belongings are not worth much"? Might a child also suffer feelings of personal worthlessness - "my stuff is worthless, and so am I"?

A group of friends and I would like to address this issue. We are working on our first dufflebag drive to support our local foster care programs. The first drive will conclude just before the new school year (August 2009). At that time we will decide whether to continue our efforts as an ongoing project. Thank you!
